OAEC (The Occidental Arts and Ecology Center), in its 30th year, continues to be dedicated to fostering self-determination in communities and participating in social justice and environmental movements that challenge the colonial, extractive economy. We believe every community has the knowledge, ability, and right to create an ecologically regenerative, economically viable, and socially just future for themselves.
At OAEC, we seek to create a brave space for all participants who enter our doors and gardens, to build beloved community, and to counter all forms of racism, including islamophobia and antisemitism. So too, we extend this principle out into our work in the world toward the dismantling of oppression and affirming of life.
The people of Palestine deserve to freely live their lives without fear of displacement and violence. The state of Israel is conducting a war of genocide against the people of Palestine, and the US is funneling billions of US tax dollars to Israel to enable this war. Instead of putting our resources toward creating resilient communities and a culture of care, our tax dollars are being used to perpetrate this violence.
We join the rising tide of voices demanding that this genocide end immediately. OAEC is committed to earth justice and the assault on Gaza is one of ecocide, profound earth destruction, and climate catastrophe. We are calling with thousands of organizations worldwide for a permanent ceasefire now.
