In Their Own Words

My work at OAEC:

A large part of my job is keeping a tidy heart of the organization – both on and offline. I take pride in tending to our shared physical and virtual spaces by maintaining cleanliness and simplicity for everyone. With the help of the two annual Program Administration interns, I respond to all general inquiries from the public, collaborate with our Communications Director on website and social media updates, and manage marketing for the Mother Garden Nursery.

When called to coordinate events, internal or public facing, my work is focused on curating a welcoming and safe environment for guests. Whether the event is in the garden, the barn, or the Meeting Hall, I love to see the community grow in a multitude of spaces at OAEC.

My favorite resiliency resource:

Long, slow-distance running

Why my work matters:

Creating and upholding various systems of communication and organization supports all aspects of OAEC’s work and leads to greater social and environmental change as a whole. Even minute details, like stocking the correct printer paper and making sure we have enough coffee creamer in the office fridge, play a part in keeping this place running smoothly.

My background:

A California kid through and through, I was born and raised in Humboldt County where I spent my time exploring rivers, beaches, forests, and marshes. Motivated by a deep craving for sunshine and warmer beaches, I attended UC Santa Barbara after high school where I received my BA in Global Studies. After a long stint working in restaurants, I landed at OAEC as an intern working in the office.
