Volunteer for our Garden Volunteer Days, Wild Work Days, Plants Sales or Chautauqua performances!
Sink your hands into our beautiful, rich soil and learn from the diversity of plant life in our 40-year-old Mother Garden. You can come for part or all of the day. We are happy to have your helping hands for as long as you can participate!
Volunteer lunch: Our chefs create an organic, vegetarian meal harvested from our gardens at 12:30pm. Enjoy the rewards of a horticulturalist’s day’s work!
What to bring: We suggest a hat, sunscreen, extra layers or rain gear depending on season, sturdy shoes and water bottle.
To be considered for a garden internship, you must attend at least one Garden Volunteer Day at OAEC. Please introduce yourself to the garden staff and let them know you are applying.
Come rediscover a reciprocal relationship with nature!
Join us in OAEC’s 70-acre Wildlands Preserve for an afternoon of wildtending. From tending oak trees to sowing seed and restoring native coastal prairie, learn management strategies that support abundance and resilience for a diversity of life.
Meet in the Core Area (at the cob bench) off the first OAEC driveway at 1:00pm sharp, then we will head into the OAEC backcountry together. Give yourself 15 minutes to park/walk down from the Upper Lot.
Bring: Snacks, water, sun hat, long pants and sleeves to protect from poison oak. If you have them, please also bring a pruning saw, Felcos, gloves and binoculars!
