KOWS 107.3 FM
KOWS 107.3 is a community radio station serving the “Kindom of Occidental and West Sonoma.” KOWS began broadcasting in May 2007 with an eclectic blend of recorded and in-studio live music, discussion and call-in shows — all produced by local volunteers.
The station is licensed under the FCC's "low-power" FM service. The "effective radiated power" is 100 watts, but the power at the transmitter is only 3 watts. The signal can be heard quite well in Occidental, Freestone, Camp Meeker, and Graton. Due to the local geography, coverage in Sebastopol, Forestville, Fulton, and Santa Rosa is dependent on your exact position and whether you have a line-of-sight to the transmitter. The station hopes to be on the internet soon and is looking for other ways to expand the signal range.
KOWS is currently seeking volunteer programmers and other volunteers who wish to be active with the station. To inquire about becoming a volunteer programmer, or other volunteer opportunities, to become a member or business/organizational underwriter, or for any other questions, please contact Philip Tymon at (707) 874-1557 x 203 or phil@oaec.org
